Adding a New Product

Go to Catalog>Add Product and fill in the new product form as follows:

In order to add an image, simply click the 'Browse / Upload Image' button. **Please make sure that you have resized your photos to the correct size before uploading new photos.

This is the photo upload / photo picker box:

If you are adding a new photo:
  1. Click the folder where you want to put the new photo. You can also choose to create a new folder.
  2. Click the 'Browse' button and find the photo on your PC that you want to add
  3. Click the 'Upload' button to add it to the folder that you selected in step 1
  4. Click the photo to select it and you will then see it appear in your new product page

VERY IMPORTANT

**Make sure your photo file names and folder names contain no spaces at all, and no foreign characters or characters other than: standard letters and numbers, hyphens and underscores. Eg

This is acceptable:
gucciHandbag.jpg
gucci7handbag.jpg
gucci_Handbag.jpg
gucci-Handbag.jpg

This is NOT acceptable:
gucci Handbag.jpg
10%discountgucci.jpg
gucci'sbags.jpg
gucci,bag.jpg

The reason this is so important is because having 'illegal characters' in your file names will cause display problems, eg images not appearing at all. This is not 100% predictable, so your photo may show one day and then disappear the next day. Please avoid these problems by using the correct naming structure from the beginning.

Here are the settings for the bottom half of the form:

  1. Wholesale
    This is the price which will only be shown to your wholesale customers only. This is not a standard feature of CubeCart and has been specially implemented in your shop.
  2. Product Weight
    Add this for the postal rates to be correctly calculated
  3. Custom SEO URL
    This can be used for SEO purposes, as it helps to include your keywords here. Please do not change this if you do not know what you are doing
  4. Use stock level
    Set this to NO unless you want your online shop to take care of stock keeping for you.
  5. Browser Title
    Again it helps to put keywords in here, but keep it short because the more words you have the less effective it becomes. This can be kept blank to use the general website settings which have already been set
  6. Description
    This appears in the search engine results page. Having something appealing will ensure that someone clicks on YOUR listing rather than that of your competitors' listings.This can be kept blank to use the general website settings which have already been set.
  7. Keywords
    The keywords used in an eCommerce site are usually those of your brands and products. This can be kept blank to use the general website settings which have already been set.
When you have finished filling in the new product page, click 'Add Product'.
