How can I decrease the amount of space I'm using?

If you have received a disk space useage warning, it might be time to do some housekeeping on your hosting account by clearing out unnecessary files or generally checking that everything is in order.

The first thing to check is any photos that you might have added. If you don't resize your photos then they might be too large, eating up valuable space on your hosting account. Here's how to check.

Disk Space Usage

Log into cPanel and go to Files>Disk Space Usage

How to check

You an quickly see an overview of what is taking up the most amount of space in your account. You should not be using very much space in your MAIL folder if you are using the correct settings to retrieve your mail (ie use POP instead of IMAP so that you retrieve emails from the account instead of simply taking a copy and leaving the emails in place).

Please be very careful when deleting files. If you don't recognise the files, don't delete them because they could be essential files for your website.
